Vintage Zuni Buffalo Fetish Fine Heishi Necklace
This 1970s necklace features 19 hand carved shaggy buffalo arranged along a string of ultra-fine shell and turquoise heishi. Two of the buffalo are carved from turquoise. The others are of various stones and types of shell including jasper, serpentine, onyx, abalone, and more. All are beautifully carved with exquisite detail. The clasp is handcrafted from sterling, with handmade beads and cones on either side. The cones are decorated with a stamped design.
The necklace measures 34 inches long. Each buffalo is 1 x 1/2 inch except for the larger turquoise fetish at center, which measures 1-1/4 x 3/4 inch.
Excellent vintage condition. Normal patina of vintage silver has been left undisturbed.
